Easter

We sent Reid an Edible Arrangement for Easter. He really likes chocolate covered strawberries. :)  He lives with the Bishop and his wife was kind enough to go pick it up for us. Reid had a great week.

This week we had an interesting tracting experience. While we were knocking on doors a very friendly cat came up to us and asked for attention. After I gave it a few fond pats, we continued and it proceeded to follow us the rest of the time we were on the street. It would actually go up to the doors before us on occasion. From the tag we learned it's name was "Meow" and where it lived on the street. Strangely , the owners didn't even give me a chance to say how much I liked their cat and gave us the quick "we're not interested" SLAM response. Regardless, the cat was nice to have around.

This is just how he would hold Georgia.

Ode to Georgia

This is Georgia,  Reid's cat. I am sad to say that we had to put her down Friday, April 22. She was 16 years old. He picked her out at the shelter when he was just 4. He and that cat loved each other so much. She was the sweetest thing filled with love. She dislocated her hip the Saturday before she died. We couldn't fix it because she wouldn't have survived the anesthesia because of her heart murmur. We were hoping that she would adapt, but it became clear that she would always be in intense pain. She was brave and loving to the end. We will miss that little 5 pound cat.

Tender Mercies

I am thankful for good families that take care of Reid. Sister Bookwalter emailed me to ask for a recipe. Reid had asked for French onion soup and apple chicken costinis (sandwichs). It is one of his favorite meals. He must have been comfortable enough to ask for her to make it for him. I was happy to send the recipe. She said she was happy to make it because he is one of her most favorite missionaries. Secondly, I am thankful to Bro. Baerg. He must have been listening to the Spirit because he called and invited Reid and his companion over just when Reid needed a pick me up. He help Reid fix his bike, joked around and had Reid help him learn a bass guitar part. It was exactly what Reid needed and an answer to prayer. Bro. Baerg told Reid,"I think you needed more of a tune up than your bike."

Working hard again

Reid was amused that this truck is a Ferrari. Uh...really?
We taught an awesome first lesson with Mike and his son. Mom was upstairs working on selling the house and the daughter had homework. The Spirit was very strong and it was clear that they could feel it. They promised to read from the Book of Momon as a family, pray about it and come to church. Then following the Spirit, I asked them to be baptized. Mike said that they would consider it as a family, go to God and if they felt that if it is what God wants for them then they would. It was great and was a good first real teaching experience for Elder Lancaster.

Elder Lancaster

It is so great to have a companion that wants to work and help out! I love having this guy with me. Work is not vastly improved at this point but things are on an upward trend and that is the best part.Cool story time. So we have been praying to find the elect and one day we set out to tract and as we always do we prayed for inspiration. We felt guided to a street and the first door that we knocked on brought a 30 min conversation with a man named Mike. He is prepared and had a lot of gospel truth that he already accepts. He is interested in the idea of modern prophets and invited us to come back to teach his family.
The ward members were happy I stayed and have a new, excited companion. One even said that they were hoping to get a town named after me for surviving so well with my last companion. I have obtained sainthood. (^_^)
